Sorting

The order a list arrives in. Visitors change it from the sort row; you set the one a page opens with.

The sort row on a beats page: pills reading Chart, Top Sellers, Trending and Random, with a gold Choose the order callout framing the open Trending dropdown and its options Trending, Most Played, Latest and Oldest.
Chart, Top Sellers and Random stay out in the open. The rest share the one dropdown, which takes the name of whichever of them is on — so a page opened on Latest reads Latest here, not Trending.

Setting the opening order

Add sort to Initial Filters on the browser, alongside any other filter, using the value from the table. A page that should lead with new work opens on sort=latest; a best-sellers page on sort=top-sellers.

Shuffled shelves

A random carousel reshuffles every time the page loads, which is usually the point. If you want it to stay put while a visitor scrolls, it holds its order within a visit rather than rearranging under them.
